classroom tour :: kindergarten

I have officially called this little space {aka my classroom} mine for one month. I figured it was 'bout time I shared it with you all. Not that many of you care much, but I know fellow teachers will enjoy a nosey little peek into my classroom.

This is where the magic chaos happens.

Before we start the tour, I'm obliged to confess these photos were taken before any rug rats stepped foot in my classroom. Hence, it's pristine cleanliness. Pictures of it's current state would be much different. And, of course, I have re-arranged things several times since these photos.

The small carpet space in front of the easel is where we have group time.
Kinder is jam packed with carpet time. So, we spend A LOT of time here on the carpet.

I have 6 tables that seat 4 kids each.
I'm blessed to have 4 student computers & a SMART BOARD (which is pictured in the far right)!
 Wa-hoo.

This is the guided reading/library area.

My desk where I spend less than 1% of my day at.
I sit here to check e-mail in the morning prior to kiddos coming
& then for about one minute to take attendance mid day.

Ah, the goodwill rocking chair. I bought this bad boy at goodwill for ten bucks & spray painted it black thinking it'd be the perfect addition to my classroom. Within the first hour of the first day, I replaced it with a kinder sized chair. This rocking chair is cute & all, but so not practical for teaching. It kept moving while I was trying to teach & just got in the way. It is now sitting in the library area & I use it as a student reward. I pick one student a day to sit in the "reading chair" where they have access to all the best books in the library, etc.

So, there you have it. My humble abode. I must say, I am crazy thankful for having a closed off classroom. I am enjoying it while I can, since I'm sure next school year I will be moving classrooms.

Do you teach? I'd love to see your classroom! Share the link to your post in a comment.

  1. It's TOO cute! & cute rocking chair!
Just don't do what my old, ornery kindergarten teacher did and send a student to the principal's office for TOUCHING it.

Oh... & that student was me.

  10. I was a high school teacher for 17 years, then I left teaching to go into banking and finance. I retired from that 3 and 1/2 years ago. My classrom never looked as good as yours, however!

    1. And... I'm totally with you on the rocking chair. Wanted one, just had-to-have one, got one... and never use it :) Funny how that happens!
